Dr Lara Cleland is a Forensic Psychiatrist who has worked in a varied range of clinical settings. She completed her Core Training in Psychiatry under the Central and North West London and West London Training Scheme in 2017. This covered a range of specialities including General Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
After her Core Training, Dr Cleland joined the North Central and East London training programme for Forensic Psychiatry. During this time she has experienced working across all levels of secure hospital care, including high security, as well as prison settings. She has experience across both the mental illness and personality disorder pathways.
She is able to work within short timeframes to deliver reports.
Dr Cleland has given oral evidence in court. She has given evidence matters of fitness to plead and to assist the court in sentencing. As a practising psychiatrist she is able to give her opinion about the suitability for hospital orders under the Mental Health Act 1983, as amended in 2007.
Dr Cleland has experience of providing psychiatric reports in various legal proceedings including;
HCR-20 to assess and manage risk of violence
Poster and oral presentation at the South Eastern Division Research Conference.
Dr Cleland has good availability, she currently dedicates 2 sessions per week to this.
