Profile

Dr Kent is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and chartered with the British Psychological Society. She has extensive clinical experience in the NHS and independent practice providing assessment and treatment for complex mental health conditions across the lifespan with a particular expertise in working with older adults.

Dr Kent has acted as an expert witness to the Courts mainly in relation to the psychological effects of road traffic accidents, medical negligence, capacity and eviction for almost twenty years. She has experience of assessing more complex clients who have histories of trauma/mental health difficulties as well as current significant stressors.

In addition to her work as an expert witness, Dr Kent has worked in highly specialist services across both adult and older adult mental health. She is an integrative therapist drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities such as schema focussed therapy (SCT), psychodynamic therapy, and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). Over the past twenty-seven years she has delivered these evidence-based therapies within community-based, outpatient, NHS staff support settings as well as in her independent practice.

Dr Kent has more than fifteen years’ experience working as an expert witness and has prepared several hundred reports during this time and undertaken specific associated training.

Availability

Dr Kent dedicates two days a week to medicolegal work. She is able to undertake assessments both face-to-face and remotely. She is also happy to travel to see someone in their own home if required. This includes prison visits. Dr Kent is able to arrange an appointment within two weeks of instruction and produce a report within 14 working days of the psychological assessment.
