Dr Lowe qualified as doctor in 1984 and worked as a GP in India until 1996, when he came to the UK and underwent his psychiatric training. In 2003 he qualified as a specialist in psychiatry of learning disability.

Dr Lowe has over 20 years of experience of learning disability psychiatry. He has been a consultant psychiatrist of learning disability since 2003. He held substantive consultant posts in the NHS till 2008, when he moved to private sector as a substantive consultant psychiatrist at St. Andrew’s in Northampton.. In 2014, he started working as a locum consultant psychiatrist and has, since then, worked in a variety of NHS and independent sector roles across England and Wales. He has now decided to concentrate mainly on medico-legal and other psychiatric report writing work.

Dr Lowe has a wide experience of learning disability psychiatry and has worked extensively in the community learning disability teams, acute assessment and treatment units for challenging behaviours, intensive support teams, with patients with learning disability and complex physical health problems including epilepsy and secure and rehabilitation units. He has prepared psychiatric reports and given evidence in innumerable Mental Health review Tribunals and has the done the same for courts magistrates courts and crown courts) in both criminal and civil cases.

Dr Lowe has prepared psychiatric reports and given evidence in innumerable Mental Health Review Tribunals in the course of his career of over 20 years in the field. and has the done the same for courts (magistrate’s courts and crown courts and court of protection) in both criminal and civil cases on many occasions. When he was at St Andrew’s in Northampton, he was he was on the consultancy panel for independent medico-legal psychiatric expert witness assignments.
