Profile

Dr Hewson qualified in 2007 from King’s College London and administers 200-500 anaesthetics (both general and regional anaesthesia) per year. He has training and experience in all anaesthetic subspecialties but has major clinical interests in regional anaesthesia, trauma, neuroanaesthesia, airway management and risk assessment. In addition to working in the operating department he provides resuscitation, sedation and high acuity care to patients in the emergency department and around the hospital. These clinical activities account for 50% of his working time. The rest of his time is spent in teaching, research and medicolegal practice.

Experience of giving evidence

Dr Hewson completed training in civil law and procedure, report writing, and courtroom skills by Bond Solon in 2021 and was awarded the Cardiff University Expert Witness Certificate in 2022.
