Dr Ian Colvin is an expert witness in General Practice, accepting instructions for both Claimant and Defendant work in clinical negligence cases. He has been a full-time NHS doctor for 25 years and a GP Partner and Trainer at a thriving London GP surgery, Elizabeth Avenue Group Practice, for the past 15 years.

He is a GP leader with current leadership posts including Clinical Board Member for the North Central London ICB General Practice Provider Alliance, and Non-Executive Director of Islington GP Federation. He was elected to both these roles by fellow Islington GPs.  Previous leadership roles have included Clinical Lead for IT and for ENT/Audiology for his local NHS clinical commissioning group and acting as a GP Appraiser, during which he completed over 100 appraisals of GP colleagues.

Experience of giving evidence

Dr Colvin has given oral evidence in the coroner’s court on two occasions and has written approximately ten reports for the coroner over the years.
