Profile

Dr Jaleel Mohammed is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist who has experience working across a wide range of mental health services in London and South East England. After completing his medical training at the University of Birmingham, he went on to complete his Core Psychiatry Training in the Thames Valley region, and his Higher Training in Forensic Psychiatry in North, Central and East London. He completed his Masters’ degree in Mental Health Law in 2020.

He has worked in various clinical and criminal justice settings across London since 2018, including Secure Inpatient Services, Community Forensic Outreach Services, Prison Inreach Services and the Liaison and Diversion Service in court. Dr Mohammed is currently employed in the North London Forensic Service of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust, where he works as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist in HMP Wormwood Scrubs and in the Medium-secure service in North London.

Experience of giving evidence

Dr Mohammed has experience of providing written and oral evidence in Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court, the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health), and for the Parole Board. He is approved by the Secretary of State as having special experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorder, and is thus able to make recommendations on sentencing options under the Mental Health Act 1983. His expert reports make complicated subjects easy to understand and this translates to his style of oral evidence, where he speaks accurately and concisely.

Availability

Dr Mohammed has good availability and dedicates time to his medicolegal practice each week. He is able to travel to carry out assessments in and around London, and can carry out assessments nationwide with the use of telepsychiatry.
