Dr Jarvie qualified as a GP in 2007 and worked in a variety of settings including as a salaried GP, a locum, and an out-of-hours GP. He became a partner in 2016 at Wallingbrook Health Centre in rural Devon. He continues to practice as a partner and an out of hours GP. He has been the lead GP for clinical governance for the past 5 years at Wallingbrook. In this role he leads investigations into patient complaints and any potential substandard clinical care.

Having previously worked as a small group facilitator at the University of Exeter Medical School for a decade (2007-2017), Dr Jarvie has an interest in medical education. As the lead GP for education at Wallingbrook he regularly supervises medical students at the practice and has also been a GP trainer for several years.

Since 2013, he has also worked as an appraiser, supporting GPs across the Southwest to meet requirements for revalidation.

Experience of giving evidence

Dr Jarvie has completed the Inspire Medilaw Training which ensures a high standard of report writing and court room skills. Since completing his training Dr Jarvie has completed a number of clinical negligence reports, for defence and prosecution in approximately equal measure.

Dr Jarvie takes instructions for cases relating to medical negligence within General Practice.

Dr Jarvie has completed a number of advisory and CPR compliant reports. These have been for both defence and prosecution in an approximately equal split. They have covered a variety of subjects including:

  • mismanagement of conditions like diabetes, legs ulcers and wound infections;
  • delayed diagnoses of conditions such as chronic kidney disease and heart failure
  • infectious diseases such as pneumonia and tetanus


Dr Jarvie is highly organised and will provide a medical negligence report within four weeks of agreeing the instruction.
