Alexander (Sandy) Wood was initially appointed as a Royal Navy Consultant in 2014 doing Trauma, Hip and Knee Arthroplasty.  On Leaving the Royal Navy he worked as a Consultant Major Trauma, Limb Reconstruction and Knee Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals before being appointed at the John Radcliffe Hospital as a Trauma Consultant, Limb Reconstruction and Knee Surgeon.  His main specialist areas are the management of the Poly-Trauma patient, Ilizarov Surgery, Limb Reconstruction and keyhole surgery to the knee.

He is a primary editor for the Bone and Joint Journal covering knee papers and trauma and has published extensively in this area, including systematic reviews into complex regional pain, open fractures and cold weather injuries.  Sandy has an active involvement in Research performed at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and is the principle investigator on a number of trauma trials.

His specialisms in clinical practice include the management of the poly-trauma patient, Ilizarov surgery, complex knee injuries and limb reconstruction.  He provides expert evidence for personal injury claims and cases of clinical negligence.
