Mr Joshi was appointed as a Consultant in Thoracic Surgery at the Wythenshawe Hospital; part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) in 2018.  He completed a 2-year advanced surgical fellowship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, USA as well as an observership at the University of Toronto and a robotic/minimally invasive fellowship at James Cooke University Hospital prior to being appointed as a Consultant. Mr Joshi is the audit lead for our thoracic department, and he is a member of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), which hears regulatory cases brought forth by the GMC.

Mr Joshi’s clinical focus is in minimally invasive surgery and general thoracic surgical oncology.  He treats patients who require pleural surgery (including effusions, empyema and pneumothorax), thymic surgery, diaphragm palsy and hernia, chest wall tumour resection and reconstruction, lung volume reduction, airway and tracheal procedures as well as emergency thoracic surgery, including chest wall trauma.  He has acquired experience in upper gastrointestinal surgery, mesothelioma, and extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) as part of his extensive training background.


Experience of giving evidence

Mr Joshi has been doing expert witness work since 2020 and has undergone expert witness training with Bond Solon having attained the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) Civil Expert Witness Certificate.  He has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Law with Northumbria University Law School and an LL.B (Hons) at Nottingham Law School. Mr Joshi has full medico-legal indemnity.

He has experience as a single joint expert, in preparing joint expert reports, conferencing with council and he has given evidence in court. Mr Joshi has a full medico-legal indemnity cover under the Medical Protection Society.

Mr Joshi is able to undertake both face to face and remote assessments. He is able to offer assessments within 1-5 weeks from instruction and will then need 14 working days to complete his reports.
