Profile

Catherine Harris is a partner of Services for Children. She has experience in Social Work for 25 years, having qualified in 1999.She has significant Local Authority front line case and management experience, as well as pre qualifying experience in the field of Children and Families. She started working independently when Services for Children was established in 2009.

The work of Services for Children has addressed a variety of issues; domestic violence, sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and learning disability. The family contexts have included: removal of children from their families, reunification of children to their families, kinship care placements, and shared care arrangements.

Services for children provide a variety of assessments including parenting assessments, risk assessments, viability, connected persons and Special Guardianship assessments, sibling assessments and private law assessments. These can be commissioned by the Local Authority or instructed within the court process.

Services for Children have provided mentoring to Social Workers, newly experienced in the field. It has also provided case consultancy for Local Authorities in complex cases.

Mrs Harris is trained in the delivery of ParentAssess for assessing parents with a learning difficulty or disability.

Services for children’s specialist interest is around issues of attachment and I am trained in the delivery of the Meaning of the Child interview, developed by the Cambridge Attachment Centre. This interview can be incorporated into a wider assessment where there are concerns / attachment issues.

Mrs Harris has given evidence as a statutory Social Worker and throughout the time on a number of assessment undertaken since she has been independent since 2009.

Availability

Mrs Harris is happy to undertake both face to face and remote video link assessments. She is also happy to attend people’s house to undertake the assessment if needed. Mrs Harris is able to prepare her report is 14 working days following the completed assessment.
