Cheryl Jones is an experienced Social Work practitioner with over eleven years of post-qualifying experience and have worked within several Child Protection & Court Teams and Duty & Assessment Teams.

As an Independent Social Worker, she has extensive experience undertaking various assessments and have qualified in using the Parenting Assessment Manual (PAMS), ParentAssess and CUBAS.

Ms Jones is committed to promoting children’s and young people’s interests and safety and is keen to work with parents, carers and professionals to improve the quality of life of such children and young people to provide the necessary support to help achieve the best possible outcome.

As a Social Work practitioner for various Local Authorities and as an Independent Social Worker, Ms Jones has gained extensive experience in Child Protection Social Work, including, but not limited to:

  • Undertaking a variation of assessments, including Section 7 Reports, Section 37 Reports, Initial SWET, Final Evidence Assessments, SGO, Sibling Assessments, Parenting Assessments, Risk Assessments, Viability Assessments, Home Office Specific Assessments, Children and Family Assessments and Regulation 24 assessments.
  • S47 investigations, analysing information gathered from agencies such as the police, health records, and other Local Authorities.
  • In-depth direct work with children and their families to inform assessments to enable the development of any safety plans that may be required to ensure the child’s safety is met.
  • She has extensive experience working with the children of adults with drug and alcohol misuse, mental health issues and children exposed to domestic abuse, non-accidental injuries, complex sexual abuse cases and neglect.
  • She has a wide range of experience in managing Private Law Proceedings, and with these cases, Ms Jones has significant experience working with highly conflicted parents and there is evidence of parental alienation.
  • Experience of supervision of Family Time when children cannot live in their family home and support in these settings to enable parents to learn and children to enjoy this time spent with their loved ones.
  • Mrs Jones has completed reports and assessments where parents have lived in other countries including France, Italy, America and Ireland.

Ms Jones has eleven years of experience of providing evidence in the Family Courts, over three years as an Independent Social Worker. Ms Jones regularly seeks legal training to ensure that her knowledge and understanding is current and that any recommendations are in line with the best practice.
