Ms McArdle currently works as the band 7 practice development lead in theatres at Kingston University Hospital. This role entails both clinical and non-clinical work which supports the growth of education amongst students and current staff. She also take a responsibility for recruitment in theatres to help grow the team.

Her clinical experience is spread across a variety of specialities. She has experience as an anaesthetic, scrub and recovery in gynaecology, paediatrics, bariatrics, cardiac, orthopaedics, fertility, ear, nose and throat, maxillofacial, upper gastrointestinal, ophthalmic and general surgery. This is both elective and emergency situations.

Ms McArdle also has experience working in emergency care, attending cardiac arrests and deteriorating patients in a variety of setting and healthcare needs. To develop herself, she has taken a course in advanced life support which involves taking a lead roles in emergency care situations. Along side this she also teaches resuscitation skills to staff across the hospital, whether it be doctors, nurses or health care assistants.

Sharon has gained confidence and experience inserting cannula’s and taking bloods (phlebotomy). As she has attended the train the trainer course this is something she is an expert in and can teach.

Her experience also extends to a ward setting where she has been called to insert catheters and assess deteriorating patients. During COIVD 19 she was deployed to work on the ward which gave me invaluable insight into patients with various conditions including mental health.

After completing my critical care level 2 course she has been fortunate to work within intensive care, looking after high dependency patients and end of life care.
